Art Deco making a come back
The Marine Building is one of North America’s best example of Art Deco architecture and forms part of Vancouver’s proud history. Historians and tourists from all over flock to the magnificent lobby to catch a glimpse of old world charm at its best.
Oxford Properties, a proud owner of this iconic building, wanted to position the property as the next go-to “hip” heritage building. As you scale up the building into the belly of the commercial offices and public corridors, the historical charm needed a refresh to bring it into the here and now.

Keep or Toss?
A strategy was developed by taking the strongest Art Deco motif’s and historical references within the building and emphasizing them or modernizing them in some way shape or form. At the same time we stripped back anything that was not original and had been added throughout the years during different renovations.
